new to Calgary
Hi guys,
I just landed in Calgary from Quebec province, I was living in Quebec a couple of years. I'm wondering if there is special administration matters to do here in Calgary within Alberta province in regard to health services or other things. Also I want to have no connection anymore with Quebec: taxes...
Please advise what to do !
Thanks in advance

first of all you need to correpandence with regie d assurance maladie for cancel your carte soleil after 6 months from leaving quebec
secondly you must register in the health assurance card in your provience
thirdly just notice the tax office about your home address and in alberta there is no proviencial tax just the federal tax
at the end good luck and please let us knows about the situation in calgery we need more information for changing this shit of montreal

sorry if i am responding somewhat late but i just saw your post .
i came across this post in another forum and here is what was written :
The effective date of your coverage will be determined based on the following:
• If you move to Alberta from within Canada your coverage begins the first day of the third month following the date you establish permanent residency here;
o For example, if you establish permanent residency in Alberta on July 12, your coverage is effective October 1.
• If you move to Alberta from outside of Canada your coverage begins on your date of arrival in Alberta, once all registration validation requirements are met.)
hope this might help you .
we wish you a good luck

Salam guys,
I join you as I'm also thinking about leaving Montreal for Alberta. It's complicated to know if it's worth the time and effort before doing it, but in my case I have nothing to lose.
Here is the link of Alberta Learning Information Service where you can find plenty of information: Alis Alberta.
And here is the publication Welcome to Alberta, which is also full of useful informations and tips: Welcome to Alberta.

Salamou 3alaykoume

Re: new to Calgary
Hi Guys,
For these who are requesting an update. It's almost now 5 months, things are better than what I ahev seen in Quebec, especially $$$$. It's a boiling province with a lot of changes...and a lot of opportunities. People are totally different than what I used to see in qc and they are open mind.
Winter is a litle bit longer but I really enjoyed the sun, as you may know, Calgary is the most sunniest city in Canada...
All hamdollah up to know is good except a litle social life that Calgary don't have...so one you are here don't put yourself in a corner and close the door..go out and visit places...meet people...and get to know others...
the funny thing is that I missed more Morocco when I was in QC but here..I embrasse the western lifestyle...
Cheers,
