Ottawa-Toronto : Comparatif

Hi friends,
In order to complete what kabi wrote about the battle of the cities , let’s have a look at these interesting comparisons !
I'm sorry, the text is in english.... but it's a good way for us to improve this language, isn't it ?
Toronto
The good
- Has an international airport that actually goes to international destinations...
- Great food. Pick an ethnicity, pick a neighborhood, insert fork, chopsticks or hands and eat
- Full slate of professional sports (Maple Leafs suck, but hey, Ottawa has the Renegades...)
- The Beaches - would be better, of course, if you could actually swim
- Big enough to have two area codes
- Tons of cool neighborhoods to discover and hang out in
- Jobs (not all of them with the government)
- Economic centre of Canada (Minus Nortel Networks, the Vortex Centre of Canada, which is actually in Brampton)
- Good nightlife
- A vibrant theatre scene
- All the best concerts in Canada
- Hockey Hall of Fame
- Royal Ontario Museum
- Multi-ethnic society
- Nice cottage country, if you can afford it
- Several quality newspapers to choose from (Ottawa Citizen: A good paper. The Sun: not so much)
- Great shopping
- Good public transit
- Our tower is bigger than yours - CN Tower versus Peace Tower
- Can get around the city without a car
The bad
- Increasingly violent
- Urban but not urbane sprawl
- Traffic from hell
- Odd proclivity not to use articles in grammar - e.g. Skydome, Rogers Centre. What's wrong with The?
- Work culture (it's o.k. to go home!)
- Business women in tennis shoes
- Real estate prices (the commute from Sudbury is starting to look good...)
- Homeless problem
- Pollution
- Being the second-best (distant at that) NHL team in Ontario

Re: Ottawa-Toronto : Comparatif
The next city !
Ottawa
The good:
- The Byward Market on a Saturday, or just about any day
- Much less chance of being hit by stray bullets
- Skating on the Rideau Canal beats jogging along the stink of Toronto's waterfront
- Despite a population about one fifth of Toronto's, Ottawa has produced many more successful NHLers than Toronto.
- Frank Clair Stadium is a football field with charm, history and character, while the Rogers Center more closely resembles something between a hospital and an airplane hangar.
- The Ottawa University Gee Gees football team beat the U of T's Varsity Blues 72-0 last season. The Ottawa University Gee Gees football team beat the U of T's Varsity Blues 72-0 last season. A score like that bears repeating at least once.
- Please stand up if your city didn't have all of its important buildings burned to the ground by American soldiers during the War of 1812. Ahem... Toronto, please sit down.
- Ottawans are capable of shoveling their own snow with little to no assistance from the Canadian Army.
- Ottawa is the nation's capital. Toronto can barely handle being the capital of Ontario.
- Ottawans can actually get to work in under an hour each morning
- The Poutine Factor: Ottawa benefits from being close to Quebec and great poutine abounds, while the closest thing to decent poutine in Toronto comes from Harvey's
- Homeowners in Ottawa actually have lawns, rather than green postage stamps
The bad
- Ottawa shuts down at about 8:00 on most nights.
- The winters are much colder
- Despite being favored each time, Ottawa has lost to Toronto four of the past five seasons in the NHL playoffs.
- Ottawa has plenty of great restaurants, but Toronto has even more
- Ottawa lacks a subway system and is more spread out than Toronto, and getting from one end of town to the other by public transit in Ottawa can take at least twice as long as it does in Toronto.
- The Ottawa Rough Riders / Renegades were once named the least successful professional sports franchise of the past 100 years by Sports Illustrated, and haven't won a Grey Cup since 1976.
- Getting a decent job in Ottawa often requires speaking French
- The Ottawa Senators don't actually play in Ottawa, but in Kanata
- People outside of Canada have actually heard of Toronto. But Otta-where?

Re: Ottawa-Toronto : Comparatif
Humm after reading the article of RACHEL, I really want to switch on some light on this subject
I agree with the fact that among The good in Toronto the wide variety of foods, professional sports, a lot of job, and much place to hang out … but since when having a bigger or higher tower than other cities means that it’s good point .. and who say that people "Can get around the city without a car" , that is insane to believe that !!! because just going from your home to your work in TORONTO it’s like travelling in a place called “very very far country” :D
for The Bad part I can not understand that "Being the second-best (distant at that) NHL team in Ontario" is a bad point , neither for " Business women in tennis shoes" is anyone could switch on some light??
On the other hand Ottawa and The good things, I don’t think that producing many more successful NHLers than Toronto could be enough to attract people to Ottawa neither the fact that,” The Ottawa University Gee Gees football team beat the U of T's Varsity Blues 72-0” could be a sufficient point.
Now let’s see The bad:
- Ottawa shuts down at about 8:00 on most nights. YES it’s right
- The winters are much colder: so what ??
- Despite being favored each time, Ottawa has lost to Toronto four of the past five seasons in the NHL playoffs: is that could stop me having a delicious meal on my table ??
- Ottawa has plenty of great restaurants, but Toronto has even more: Ottawa has the quality, Toronto has the quantity
- Ottawa lacks a subway system and is more spread out than Toronto, and getting from one end of town to the other by public transit in Ottawa can take at least twice as long as it does in Toronto: who is this crazy person who like going for east to west of his city .. ohh maybe the guy coming from Toronto do it
- The Ottawa Rough Riders / Renegades were once named the least successful professional sports franchise of the past 100 years by Sports Illustrated, and haven't won a Grey Cup since 1976.: same as 3rd point
- Getting a decent job in Ottawa often requires speaking French: oh my God is speaking french a bad point .. !!! that’s insane !!! :O
- The Ottawa Senators don't actually play in Ottawa, but in Kanata : ohh really that is a very vey big problem
- People outside of Canada have actually heard of Toronto. But Otta-where? : yes they know it because it’s the capital.. I mean it’s the best city in CANADA to live and rise a family
I just laughing when I read that :
- Please stand up if your city didn't have all of its important buildings burned to the ground by American soldiers during the War of 1812. Ahem... Toronto, please sit down.
